A Brief History of Badminton in Canada last updated 96/09/01. 1900 Badminton first played in Canada's capital, Ottawa. 1907 Ladies' Hotel Tennis and Badminton Club formed, the oldest club in Canada. 1914 First Badminton Club Championships held the first open badminton tournament in Canada. 1921 Badminton Association of Canada formed, University Club, Montreal. SH Colonel McKee elected president, Colonel AE Harris elected Vice President, and Mr. RB Buchanan elected honorary secretary. Canada was the first country outside the British Isles to form a national association.
