Accies boss plays down the Italian link

Hamilton manager Billy Reid expects James McCarthy stay with the Scottish Premier League newcomers when the teen was tied to the transition from Italy.

Serie A side Palermo has reportedly expressed interest in 17-year-old midfielder, however, Reid insists, there has been no contact between the clubs.

Reid believes it will be of benefit to McCarthy in SPL behind him prior to think about leaving and told setantasports.com: "We have not had any contact, Palermo. As far as we are concerned about is not a business."

He added: "Young James Hamilton is a player I feel that this season, I hope he comes."

McCarthy, who had been linked to moves to Liverpool and reading over the last period is three years remaining on his contract with Hamilton.

Reid added: "If an offer comes, we will certainly look at it, but as far as we are concerned about is not to provide so yet."
