2008 Woodridge Cross Country (5.30.2008)

As the academic year comes to an end the 2008 Woodridge Cross Country program is the hope for a successful season. The high school women are from their third straight Portage Trail Conference crown and hoping to return to Columbus for the OHSAA State Cross Country Championships for the 4th consecutive year. The men have also won three straight crowns PTC and the competition in the state meet four years in a row. The boys will try to defend their back-to-back OHSAA Division II state championship. Senior Brian Himelright recently an NCAA National Letter of Intent to compete at North Carolina State University.

The Woodridge Middle School Cross Country program has consistently was 30-40 student-athletes involved. The young people continue to finish in the top of the Portage Trail Conference.

Academic, the cross country runners at Woodridge remain high. Five of the six graduating valedictorians and salutatorian were in the program! The commitment and drive to excel in endurance sports is often reflected in the classroom!

The cross country program will begin under the supervision conditioning sessions in July. Mandatory training will begin on Monday, August 4. The 2008 Team Camp of the Champs for the secondary school is 10-15 August.
